OWB/OBIEE Developer (Nov 2008 to Present) at MoD (HQLF)
Working as an OWB ETL/OBIEE Developer on the Land Forces Data Warehouse (LFDW) project at Head Quarters Land Forces (HQLF). This project is being delivered as a set of time-boxed releases, with new functionality being introduced with each time box. The main aim of this DW is to bring together information from various disparate systems that were linked manually into a single source of information. When at Full Operating Capability the LFDW will act as an authoritative Data HUB and an Analytical Space for all Planning, Forecasting and Financial analysis.

Technical DW Test Lead (Apr 2005 to May 2008) SUS - NHS SPINE Programme
Worked as Technical System Test Lead on the SUS Data Warehouse, which is being delivered as a part of the NHS SPINE programme. This is a high-profile project driven by ministerial commitments to deliver, measure and improve services offered by the NHS. SUS (Secondary Uses Service) is designed to provide anonymous patient-based data for purposes other than direct clinical care such as healthcare planning, commissioning, public health, clinical audit and governance, benchmarking, performance improvement, medical research and national policy development. It is the Largest Data Warehouse in Europe.
Headline responsibilities and achievements:
- Performing review of Physical design document
- Performed Code reviews of OWB mappings, Process Flows and PL/SQL packages. Ensured that the code delivered matched the Physical design document and the user requirements
- Creating E2E test scenarios to test the Warehouse effectively
- Creating data packs for the test scenarios identified using PL/SQL harness that I developed
- Conceived, designed and developed a bespoke automated regression testing tool that could execute 300 tests in a couple of minutes. This was coded using PL/SQL, VB Script and HTML and used a DIY scheduler engine developed by me to control execution of tests.
- Co-ordinated User Assurance Testing during and after full system testing – had to interact with senior business users to assist with their testing
- In depth knowledge of the application and hence could schedule tests to effectively utilise all resources available (environments and testers)
- Technical representation of the test team in design elaboration (whiteboard) session as well as in defect triages to explain and justify the defects that were raised
- Monitoring and reporting on Data Warehouse test execution activity and re-planning where necessary
- Led a QA team to ensure suppliers followed all process during the FQT phase. FQT was at supplier’s office in Mumbai, India
- Managed/facilitated QA on FQT activities for the Data Warehouse code supplied
