Working as an OWB ETL/OBIEE Developer on the Land Forces Data Warehouse (LFDW) project at Head Quarters Land Forces (HQLF). This project is being delivered as a set of time-boxed releases, with new functionality being introduced with each time box.  The main aim of this DW is to bring together information from various disparate systems that were linked manually into a single source of information. When at Full Operating Capability the LFDW will act as an authoritative Data HUB and an Analytical Space for all Planning, Forecasting and Financial analysis.

Headline responsibilities and achievements:

• Fault fixing of existing mappings in production (performing Impact Analysis)

• Writing complex ETL processes in OWB to extract data from heterogeneous source systems like SQL Server and CSV files including Data Quality Checks of Source datasets

Worked as a Senior Unit Test Analyst on the LFDW (Land Forces Data Warehouse). Primary responsibility was to perform code reviews and unit testing of OWB mappings. Because of the excellent code reviews that I performed I was requested to join the Oracle OWB development team as a developer.

• Early identification of faults causing a considerable amount of time and money being saved
• Uploading of test scripts from Excel into Mercury Quality Centre

Worked as a Test Lead/ Senior Test Analyst on the Time & Attendance application, creating automated scripts using a bespoke tool akin to QTP. This was a project to port the existing Time & Attendance application from VB6 to .Net and was delivered via the AGILE methodology.

• Test traceability back to requirements to ensure complete coverage
• Raising any discrepancies in the requirements

• Recording of defects in Quality Centre
• Daily reporting of Test Scripting and Execution progress to the Project Manager.

Worked as Technical System Test Lead on the SUS Data Warehouse, which is being delivered as a part of the NHS SPINE programme. This is a high-profile project driven by ministerial commitments to deliver, measure and improve services offered by the NHS. SUS (Secondary Uses Service) is designed to provide anonymous patient-based data for purposes other than direct clinical care such as healthcare planning, commissioning, public health, clinical audit and governance, benchmarking, performance improvement, medical research and national policy development. It is the Largest Data Warehouse in Europe.

Headline responsibilities and achievements:

• Performing review of Physical design document
• Performed Code reviews of OWB mappings, Process Flows and PL/SQL packages. Ensured that the code delivered matched the Physical design document and the user requirements
• Creating E2E test scenarios to test the Warehouse effectively
• Creating data packs for the test scenarios identified using PL/SQL harness that I developed
• Conceived, designed and developed a bespoke automated regression testing tool that could execute 300 tests in a couple of minutes. This was coded using PL/SQL, VB Script and HTML and used a DIY scheduler engine developed by me to control execution of tests.
• Co-ordinated User Assurance Testing during and after full system testing – had to interact with senior business users to assist with their testing
• In depth knowledge of the application and hence could schedule tests to effectively utilise all resources available (environments and testers)
• Technical representation of the test team in design elaboration (whiteboard) session as well as in defect triages to explain and justify the defects that were raised
• Monitoring and reporting on Data Warehouse test execution activity and re-planning where necessary
• Led a QA team to ensure suppliers followed all process during the FQT phase. FQT was at supplier’s office in Mumbai, India
• Managed/facilitated QA on FQT activities for the Data Warehouse code supplied

ERS (Enhanced Reporting System) is a Data warehousing project in the NHS SPINE program. The objective of this system is to measure the performance/availability of services provided by the various service providers of the SPINE programme based on contractual SLAs.

Worked as a programmer/analyst on PAYEE NET project, which is a browser based cash receipting system. This application was targeted at council office cash receipting.

Worked as a project lead on Bulk Payment Clearing System (BPCS) which is the core processing application of the cheque clearing house of the Central Bank of Egypt.

Worked as a project lead on localising the entire suite of software developed for CBE. The applications were required to support dual languages.

Executed this project single handed. This is a test generation engine packaged as a product. It was aimed at grade 10 students. This product made use of an MS Access database which had all questions and answers and presented them to the users in the form of an examination question paper.
